Frequently Asked Questions

Have questions? We've got answers.

What is a hackathon?

A hackathon is an "invention marathon" where you can build any project (like an app, website, or game) you want. It's a place to learn, build, and share your creations over the course of a day!

Who is eligible to participate?

FM Hacks is open to all current high school students. Unfortunately, middle school and college students are not eligible to compete, but they are welcome to volunteer!

Are there any costs?

Absolutely nothing! FM Hacks is completely free for all participants, thanks to our generous partners. This includes food, drinks, snacks, and swag.

What should I bring?

You should bring your laptop, any necessary chargers, a valid student ID, and your enthusiasm! We'll provide the rest.

How many people can be on a team?

You can form teams of up to 3 people. You can also choose to work alone if you prefer.

What if I don't have a team?

No problem! We will have dedicated team formation events at the beginning of the hackathon to help you find like-minded individuals to work with.

What if I don't know how to code?

Not at all! We welcome students of all skill levels. We will have workshops and mentors available to help you learn and get started on your project. A hackathon is the best place to learn!
